My journey to Vedgedom: Part 3
Welcome to part 3 of my journey to Vedgedom! (don’t forget to check out (Part 1 and Part 2 ) So there I was, eyes glued to my laptop screen researching test studies, articles, books and documentaries. I found out that the meat and egg industry were on the same agenda as the dairy industry. They were covering up the production of meat and eggs. They covered up the poor living conditions that led to the ill state of the animals in these facilities. The advertisements and research studies were misleading and people were (and still are) being paid off to find ways to promote these industries while disguising the health risks and environmental concerns that keep people sick which helps the pharmaceutical companies stay in business. It was all connected and I felt stupid for being so blind to all of this. I was raised to believe that all of these things were beneficial to my health and wellness. I never even took the environment into consideration until I watched documentaries such as Cowspiracy. My final decision to live a plant-based lifestyle was made after watching Dr. Michael Klaper's presentation, Food that Kills. I was ready to commit to the change but I didn't really have any idea what the hell I was doing. What do vegans eat?! Where will I get my protein?! Ahhhhhh! Lol! (if only knew then how many times I would get asked those questions) It's one thing to read about it and watch a few videos but the game changes when you have to actually apply it to your life. In Part 1 of my journey to Vedgedom I mentioned my sudden lactose intolerance and my decision to do a cleanse. I opted to do a raw food cleanse and I did not realize it at the time but it played a significant role in being able to successfully transition to a plant-based diet. As promised, I will share my raw food cleanse experience in part 4 tomorrow. Until then... ~"Be Veg. Get Fit. Live Well."~ Jessica Ivory Sutton
